Here's another mix from the radio show on Friday, September 8th made available to you for download. Starting out with techy inclinations, the set soon mellows into a moody cloud of darker downtempo. Features tracks from Steve Stoll, Tetsu Inoue, Atom Heart, Namlook, Vir Unis and others.
As promised, here is the second half of the show. Much more chilled out this time around, with exquisite selections from some of ambient's veteran producers. The mix triangulates through various moods, and finally propels back into deep rhythms toward the end.
The first in a series of environmental field recordings, here's a 10-minute glimpse into typical Costa Rican night ambience. Although Costa Rica only makes up about 0.1% of the Earth's landmass, it contains about 5% of our planet's biodiversity. Covered in rainforests, the wealth of plants, animals and insects here can be overwhelming to any city-dweller. Dare I say the nights here are louder than those in America's urban areas due to all the nocturnal critters that emerge. Featured prominently in this segment are the Tink Frogs (Eleutherodactylus diastema), who's ubuitous call has a punctuated electronic or metallic quality. At night, you are immersed in a soundscape of countless numbers of these vocal amphibians. This is a binaural recording and headphone listening is recommended.
Round two in the Mixes for Films series, this is another surrogate soundtrack: listen to this mix while watching the film "Baraka" - cue DVD & audio then unpause both this mix and the DVD at the same time. all music from Atmoworks.com used with kind permission. contact >>mixes@phonaut.com<<
